200 Attend Delamere’s 2026 Alumni Event: The Rhythm of Recovery

Delamere ‘Throw Those Curtains Wide’ for Rhythm of Recovery Alumni Event

On Sunday 13th September, we opened the doors at Delamere to welcome back almost 200 former guests and celebrate recovery with a special alumni event.

Our alumni events have become a special part of the Delamere experience, allowing current guests, alumni, and colleagues to come together and share powerful stories of recovery and even tattoos of our Delamere logo.

This year, we were delighted to be joined by Richard Jupp, an educator, mentor, researcher, and musician best known as the drummer of Mercury Prize-winning band, Elbow.

Richard led a practical rhythm workshop designed to help Delamere alumni experience the physical and mental benefits of drumming.

Guest Speakers Deliver Powerful Recovery Stories

One of the most inspiring aspects of all Delamere alumni events is hearing powerful testimonials from our former guests.

We’re incredibly thankful for their bravery and honesty in sharing their stories with attendees. The stories shared amongst former guests, whether reuniting or meeting for the first time at the event, are vital to the sense of community created at Delamere.

The Rhythm of Recovery Workshop with Richard Jupp

After hearing from our guest speakers, Richard Jupp guided attendees through the rhythm of recovery workshop.

Using simple hand and foot patterns, Richard shared a series of accessible rhythm exercises designed to bring people fully into the moment. By asking both sides of the body to work together, the exercises encourage concentration, co-ordination, and a strong sense of physical awareness.

This wasn’t about teaching people how to become drummers, but to give a direct experience of how rhythm can help quieten the mind, improve focus, and reconnect people with their bodies.

At Delamere, we’re proud to provide a person-centred addiction treatment model, offering unique experiential sessions and somatic therapies. Richard’s session demonstrates Delamere’s belief that recovery should never rely on one fixed method but should give people access to different techniques that can support long-term well-being.

Celebrating Recovery at Delamere

The alumni event at Delamere offers our former guests the opportunity to reunite with old cohorts, meet new people with shared stories, and celebrate success.

Those celebrations were seen at the finale of our alumni event with our recovery countdown and confetti cannon. We’re proud to see so many people celebrating success within the Delamere community.

We firmly believe that long-term recovery is about much more than what happens during treatment. It’s about having the support and connection to keep moving forward. Through our extensive aftercare programme and celebratory events, we always aim to provide that support to Delamere guests long after they complete treatment with us.

Martin preston Headshot

Delamere Founder and CEO, Martin Preston, said of the event:

“Everything we do here at Delamere is about outcomes, and it’s such a joy to gather alongside people who are thriving in their recovery.

“What makes me feel most proud about our alumni event is seeing those profound transformations that people make. To see former guests 6 months, a year, or 3 years later living their best lives and enjoying recovery is hard to beat.”
