Tailored drug detox at Delamere

At the point where you, or someone you know, have become physically addicted to drugs, the body and brain have become accustomed to regular and hazardous amounts of toxins. Stopping suddenly without professional help can bring about symptoms of drug withdrawal syndrome. These symptoms can be extremely uncomfortable and even dangerous. A detox from drugs is typically the first step of treatment here at Delamere.

At our private drug rehab in Cheshire, guests will undergo a medically assisted drug detox where they will be monitored and supported around the clock by qualified nursing staff and therapists. We take every precaution to ensure the comfort and safety of each guest throughout the entire drug detox process. A full medical drug detox will minimise, and in most cases completely eradicate, the vast majority of drug withdrawal symptoms.

The benefits of a drug detox centre

Detoxing from any drug dependency without medical assistance is often uncomfortable and it can be very dangerous. The safest means of a successful drug detox without compromising well-being is within an inpatient drug detox centre such as Delamere. At Delamere, our caring and supportive team comprises doctors, nurses, therapists, and support workers as well as experts by experience, who themselves have recovered from drug addiction.

This 24-hour resource, coupled with the fact that we operate out of a purpose-built facility means we are able to offer drug detox programmes that are not only safer but also much more comfortable than many offered by UK providers.

“Our on-site medical team offer a tailored approach to detox. We insist on providing a 24-hour nursing team which enables us to offer the safest and most comfortable detox regime in the UK.”

How to encourage a loved one to go to rehab

If you are looking to help a family member, work colleague, or loved one, admit themselves to an addiction rehabilitation centre, we’re here to help. It may be that the person in question is in denial about the extent of their problem, possibly even refusing to acknowledge that there’s a problem – and resisting professional help. At Delamere, we provide family support services and help your loved one confront addiction and denial.

Should it be necessary, we also offer intervention services whereby we take the time to understand what is happening and help prepare and rehearse a formal intervention that will culminate in your loved one entering treatment with us. If you are considering organising an intervention for your loved one, friend, or colleague, contact Delamere today.

Frequently asked questions about drug detox

Does a drug detox hurt?

At Delamere, we understand that drug detox needs to be comfortable, safe, and supported in order to be successful. Regardless of the type of drug you are addicted to, we will help you through this process both medically and therapeutically.

Our experience is that drug detox does not have to be intolerable or uncomfortable. We ensure that our patients receive adequate medication and high levels of continuous support to make drug detox as painless as humanly possible.

Will I need medication during a detox from drugs?

The drug or drugs that you need detoxing from will be replaced by an approved pharmaceutical medication that minimises withdrawal symptoms. All medications will be issued at regular intervals by our 24-hour on-site nursing team who will continue to check on your physical and mental health. Before drug detox treatment can proceed, our doctor will conduct a full medical and mental health assessment. This includes screening for toxins within your body and their levels. Details of any medications you are currently taking will also be recorded. Once the assessment is complete you will then be prescribed a tailored drug detox treatment which is to be delivered within our on-site drug detox centre where you will begin to recover.

How long does it take to complete a drug detox?

How long drug detox treatment takes depends on a number of factors personal to you or your loved one, including the severity and duration of the dependence. We also have to take into account your physical and mental well-being and the presence of any other drugs in your system.

Typically, your body should be free from the physical dependence of the substance or substances within around 7 days, but the psychological dependence will require more ongoing support in the form of various therapies and rehab aftercare services.
