Group therapy for alcohol recovery at Delamere
Jess Brooks
Guest Liaison Manager at Delamere

About Jess

My goal on joining Delamere when the Guest Liaison programme was implemented was to create a central point with my team that guests use for all their questions and queries. It is my belief that community living and high-quality rooms are also important to a guest’s journey of recovery, in addition to the psycho-educational programme delivered here. I am responsible for overseeing the accommodation suite, domestic duties, and maintenance to ensure a high standard of community living.

Previous experience

I have been working at Delamere in this role since May 2023, but I have been working in the field of behaviour change since I left university. I secured a place on the probation qualification framework to train to be a probation officer, and I worked in this field for around 7 years predominantly in a court setting. I then moved on to work with those who have used harmful behaviour at a domestic abuse charity. I delivered intervention work both on a 1-1 basis and group setting.

I have struggled with my own mental health and emotional well-being since childhood. Engaging in counselling was the turning point on my own pathway to understanding my mental health and getting better. I feel that this has enabled me to connect with others, both guests and colleagues, and I believe this allows me to provide a better level of care and compassion.
