What is Ketamine Addiction?

Ketamine has been on the rise across the UK. If ketamine use has started to affect your health, work, or your relationships, it’s important to remember that you are not alone.

Ketamine misuse can cause tolerance, dependence, and ketamine addiction, with users needing ever-increasing amounts of the drug to achieve the desired high. The long-term effects of ketamine use can lead to serious health complications, including cramps caused by stresses on internal organs and bladder problems.

At Delamere, we provide evidence-led ketamine rehab treatment delivered by world-class therapists and counsellors. You’ll also be supported by a team of medical professionals, who will be on site 24 hours a day to support you.

When to Seek Ketamine Addiction Treatment

Due to ketamine’s unique dissociative properties, the signs and symptoms of ketamine intoxication are not that difficult to spot.

Ketamine can be very dangerous when abused, so if you do spot the signs of ketamine addiction in someone you know, it’s important to urge them to seek professional help.

Some common signs of ketamine addiction include:

  • Sedation
  • Inability to move
  • Experiencing auditory and/or visual hallucinations
  • Slurred speech
  • Breathing difficulties

Ketamine addiction can be a life-threatening condition, requiring professional treatment to detox safely in a supportive environment. If you, or perhaps a loved one, is struggling with ketamine use, Delamere is available to provide specialist rehab treatment in a purpose-built setting.

What is the Delamere Approach to Ketamine Rehab Treatment?

We understand just how frightening it can feel when you or a loved one is suffering from ketamine dependency. It takes real courage to reach out for support, and it is only natural to feel apprehensive about what addiction treatment may look like.

Many traditional rehab treatment options can feel clinical, with a one-size-fits-all approach. That’s why we pride ourselves on doing things differently here at Delamere. We offer a person-centred approach to ketamine addiction treatment, including group therapy, one-to-one counselling, and unique experiential sessions.

Once you’ve completed a safe, medically assisted detox, we place identifying the root causes of ketamine addiction front and centre of your stay with us. Our team will then work with you to provide you with the tools to move forward in life after ketamine addiction treatment.

When your stay with us ends, you can still receive expert support through our aftercare services. We provide 15 months of aftercare starting with 12 weekly meetings in small groups to navigate day-to-day life after returning home.

Delamere Bedroom, Signature Suite
The clearest early signal is the fall in cravings, alongside substantial reductions in depression and anxiety. These are preliminary outcomes, so they should not be overstated, but the pattern is consistent with a treatment model that first restores stability and then rebuilds motivation, reflective control and practical relapse-prevention capacity.

Introducing Root – Our Optional 2-Week Extension

When you stay with Delamere, you can benefit from a two-week extension to our core 28-day ketamine addiction treatment programme. The two-week extension is scientifically designed to identify the root causes of addiction. We use Delamere’s industry-leading neuroscience-based assessment tool to understand how your emotional and stress systems are working. The process aims to take the guesswork out of addiction treatment, allowing our expert team to match your care precisely to what your nervous system truly needs.

The ‘Root’ programme combines comprehensive assessments, experiential therapies, and responsibly structured off-site days.

Our support doesn’t simply end once you’ve completed your inpatient ketamine rehab treatment with us. The team at Delamere will be available to support you with 15 months of ongoing aftercare, with access to specialist advice and support from our team of therapists and counsellors. Our aftercare starts with 12 weekly meetings in small groups to support you through the first 3 months of recovery after you return home. The bespoke syllabus is designed to help you transition back into everyday life.

Many people have used our aftercare services to keep in touch with fellow guests from their stay with Delamere. This helps us create a community supporting each other in recovery long after completing a stay with us.
