What to expect from the medical detox programme at Delamere
The initial phase of our medial detox programme ‘Stop’ starts with some light therapeutic work while you undergo detox which helps you settle in and connect. This introductory work is carried out in interactive groups during which we get to know you and what’s brought you into treatment.
What you can expect from a medical detox at Delamere is:
- A full medical detox for any alcohol or substance dependence
- Your own private room with en-suite facilities
- A health screening from our specialist substance misuse Doctor
- To socialise in client lounges with fellow guests
- 24-hour access to our fully qualified nursing team
- A deliberately light introduction to therapy
- Medication (if required) to alleviate any withdrawal symptoms
- To start feeling better, quicker than you might expect
- Plenty of rest, recuperation, and nourishment
- Access to our gym and forest surroundings when physically fit
‘Stop’ lays the foundations for stages 2 and 3 of our residential rehab programme:

Stage 1: StopThis phase addresses any physical aspects of your addiction. Our medical team is on hand 24/7 to ensure a safe and effective withdrawal.

Stage 2: StartDuring ‘Start’ we help identify the psychological underpinnings of your dependency as you participate in a variety of addiction treatment therapies.

Stage 3: GrowOur ‘Grow’ phase is the process of integrating the Delamere learning experience into life after treatment.

Stage 4: Grow
Our ‘Bloom’ phase offers intensive support on a weekly basis for the first three months of recovery once guests return home.
How to encourage a loved one to go to rehab
If you are looking to help a family member, work colleague, or loved one, admit themselves to an addiction rehabilitation centre, we’re here to help. It may be that the person in question is in denial about the extent of their problem, possibly even refusing to acknowledge that there’s a problem – and resisting professional help. At Delamere, we provide family support services and help your loved one confront addiction and denial.
Should it be necessary, we also offer intervention services whereby we take the time to understand what is happening and help prepare and rehearse a formal intervention that will culminate in your loved one entering treatment with us.
