Tailored painkiller detox at Delamere

Delamere differs from most painkiller detox treatment centres in the UK by providing guests with a fully tailored experience. Our approach to addiction and recovery is not one-size-fits-all, as is often seen with traditional 12-step methods, but rather completely individualised to provide maximum potential for lasting, transformative change.

We have a team of doctors and 24-hour on-site nurses who will prescribe and administer approved medications at regular intervals to ensure a safe detox from painkillers that is as comfortable as possible.

Our compassionate and experienced team of round-the-clock nurses is able to react to guests’ symptoms, prescribing medications to minimise, or in some cases eradicate them completely. At Delamere private rehab, we do not believe that painkiller detox has to be a daunting prospect that shuts someone off from the idea of recovery. What if it could be a relaxing experience that sets you on the path to a life without painkiller addiction?

What if the road to recovery looked different?

“Feel like my old self – everything is more straightforward, more energetic, and I appreciate what life has to offer.” – Former Delamere Guest

The benefits of an inpatient painkiller addiction detox

Entering a supported painkiller detox programme is a much safer, and often more successful option than detoxing at home. When the body has become dependent on painkillers, it is of the utmost importance that a physical detox is supported by medical professionals. In severe cases, going ‘cold turkey’ can have disastrous medical consequences and even result in the loss of life if the body cannot cope in the absence of the substance.

At our rehab clinic in rural Cheshire, your assisted detox from painkillers will be under the supervision of medical professionals including 24-hour on-site nurses. During a detox, your safety and comfort are paramount which is why we provide guests with a fully tailored detox from painkillers. Moreover, when symptoms are managed, detox is far less likely to end in addiction relapse, making the experience far more successful than attempting at home.

How to encourage a loved one to go to rehab

If you are looking to help a family member, work colleague, or loved one, admit themselves to an addiction rehabilitation centre, we’re here to help. It may be that the person in question is in denial about the extent of their problem, possibly even refusing to acknowledge that there’s a problem – and resisting professional help. At Delamere, we provide family support services and help your loved one confront addiction and denial.

Should it be necessary, we also offer intervention services whereby we take the time to understand what is happening and help prepare and rehearse a formal intervention that will culminate in your loved one entering treatment with us. If you are considering organising an intervention for your loved one, friend, or colleague, contact Delamere today.

Frequently asked questions about painkiller detox

What happens after I detox from painkillers?

Detox is often the first step in treating painkiller addiction, especially when it comes to addictions such as codeine addiction, morphine addiction, or tramadol addiction. Once the individual has safely stopped the painkillers the next step is to address and heal the underlying reasons as to why they became addicted in the first place. Following on from this, the individual will then have to learn new ways in which to manage their emotional and physical pain without resorting to addictive pharmaceuticals.

Is a detox from painkillers dangerous?

There are two main dangers with a painkiller detox, the first being possible medical consequences if the body is unsupported and unable to cope without the substance. Secondly, detoxing from painkillers outside of a supportive environment such as Delamere is much more likely to result in a relapse if cravings are too overwhelming.
